Cultural aspects.

All the events take place in the small typical American town - Frazier, New Hampshire.
The main characters often eat pizza and drink, for example, fanta and coca-cola.
But the family of Stones is half-Italian and it represents Italian culture a lot.
There are mentioned such holidays as Thanksgiving Day and Independence Day. But not only holidays are mentioned there. One chapter connects with 9/11, series of terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington. 

Filming.

First of all, I hold the casting of actors. I am a famous holiwood director so the actors are. Dan is Keanu Reeves. 

Abra is Elle Fanning.

 Billy is Jack Nicholson.

    Dave and Lucy Stone are Bradley Cooper and Giovanna Antonelli Prado. 

Rose the Hat is Sandra Bullock.

I'd like to have in my film as many scenes as possible because almost all of them are important. All these actors play in final scenes. I want to shoot it in that place where "The Shining" was shot because it's the same place. 
I want there wouldn't be differences between the book and the film. It's my main motto. I'd just delete some dialogs and then shoot everything like in the book.

Vocabulary.

to nag - annoy or irritate (a person) with persistent fault-finding or continuous urging.

to snore - breathe with sound while asleep.

to concur - be of the same opinion.

a steam - the vapor into which water is converted when heated, forming a white mist of minute water droplets in the air.

a flurry - a small swirling mass of something, especially snow or leaves. 

maintenance - the process of maintaining or preserving someone or something.

weird - suggesting something supernatural; uncanny.

a slope - a surface of which one end or side is at a higher level than another.

hollow - having a hole or empty space inside.

a defenses - the action of defending from or resisting attack.

insanity - the state of being seriously mentally ill; madness.

a twinkle - the smallest degree of shining.

to chuckle - laugh quietly or inwardly.

reluctance - unwillingness or disinclination to do something.

a feast - a large meal, typically one in celebration of something.

a crib - a young child's bed with barred or latticed sides.

a fever - an abnormally high body temperature, usually accompanied by shivering, headache, and in severe instances, delirium.

attendance - the action or state of going regularly to or being present at a place or event.

offhand - without previous thought or consideration.

vivid - producing powerful feelings or strong, clear images in the mind.

a routine - a sequence of actions regularly followed; a fixed program.

exhalation - breathing out.

a urge - a strong desire or impulse.

My opinion.

What I did not like about the story                    

                               

I didn't like the begining of "Doctor Sleep" because it was unclear about new characters, who they were and where they were from so I didn't want to read further. 

I didn't like some long thoughts 

because while I was reading them I became to think about other things.

What I liked about the story

I liked that the author refered a lot to "Shining". 

I liked that everything went to Dan's past, that Overlook hotel.

I liked unexpected things which I can never make up myself.

For example, Dan absorbed Abra's grandmother's soul so he got cancer too

and he killed everybody using this soul.

I liked that Dan didn't drink anymore and they all became good friends and happy family.

I liked that nobody good didn't die and the story had good ending.

Review.

I read the review "Shine on" by Margaret Atwood in The New York Times. The first part of the review is the summery of "Doctor Sleep". Then reviewer reasons about Stephen King and his book and I agree with her. Author writes that King is a well-trusted guide to the underworld and his readers follow him through any door. So I do it while I'm reading "Doctor Sleep". Also review says that this novel is about families. I can say so as well because if there were no family links between Abra and Dan, they wouldn't find each other and Dan wouldn't help her. Or if there was no True Knot family, this story wouldn't exist because they were the main evil. 

My own ending.

At that moment I don't know the real ending of my book, I need to read about 100 pages.
Well, I think that Dan with his friends, Billy and John, will kill all the members of the True Knot and save little Abra. Maybe, one of them will die but not Dan because, as I know, he should have children in fiture. And his child is Tony, Abra's imaginary friend. I can't even suppose who will be Tony's mother because Dan doesn't communicate with women. I hope I will know about that soon. Abra's parents will live happy together as well but her momo (grandmother) will die because of the cancer. 

Letter.

Hi, Abra

I know you watch me every day. You leave me that strange messages and I always wait for them. But I don't know who you are, I want to know you. Do you need some help maybe? I hope you tell me that. 
You communicate with my imaginary friend Tony so you have some "shining" abilities as well. 
I feel that you live somewhere close to me and I want to meet you and talk to you.
I really hope you won`t ever know that terrible things which I knew in my childhood. If we meet someday I'll try to protect you.

Questions.

While reading the book I ran into some questions.
Is the society the True knot good or not? What does it exist for? I know its members also have some magic abilities but that's what I know. 

What exactly links Abra and Dan? I suppose someday they will meet and will fight against something evil, may be society the True Knot. 

Who is that mysterious Rose the Hat? What is her role in the book? 

I hope I will understand everething soon and tell you then.

Information gaps.

At the moment I have a lot of information gaps in my book "Doctor Sleep". For example, I don't really get what the True Knot is. I hope soon I'll know about it.
I don't know what exactly links little Abra and Dan.
One of the characters is Rose the Hat, she is a member of the True Knot. I don't know about her at all.
There haven't been exciting moments in the book yet and I'm looking forward to them.

Dan Torrance.

Dan Torrance is the main character of novel Doctor Sleep. He is the son of Wendy and Jack Torrance. Following the events of The Shining, Danny Torrance remains psychologically traumatized. Now he is 40 years old. He takes up his father's legacy of anger and alcoholism but then he gaves it up with help of  Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. He gets a job at a hospice. His "shining" abilities become stronger and he uses them to relieve people's death. Dan is called "Doctor Sleep" because of it. 

In his childhood Danny had a imaginary friend Tony. Now Tonny is a link between Dan and Abra, a little girl who also has some "shining" abilities. 

About my book. 

I'm going to read Doctor Sleep by Stephen King. I chose this book because I read the first part "The Shining" last year. And I really like novels written by Stephen King, an American author of contemporary horror, suspense, science fiction and fantasy. He can intrest his readers by his exiting plots and the style of writting. 

I liked the story about little Danny Torrance and his power to "shine", so I want to know the continuation. This book also has an advantage: there are no film adaptations and I appreciate this, because nothing can change my impression of the book.
